    What would be some of the more important organs destroyed by fire, storms etc...

    1937 ''BAROQUE'' ORGAN BY GDH 2M FROM LITERALLY ASSORTED PARTS AT A-S STOCK BIN ON LOAN TO HARVARD TILL E POWER BIGGS REPLACED IT WITH A 3M FLRNTROP THAT HE PAID FOR--THE A-S WAS IN STORAGE AT BOSTON U AND BURNED IN 1971

      • Tremont Temple, Boston - large Hook organ (1845) burned.

      • St. Eustache, Paris - Callinet organ destroyed by a fire (accidentally set by Barker, who was working on the organ).

      • St. Petri, Hamburg - Niehoff/Scherer/Fritsche/Schnitgerorgan destroyed by fire in 1842.

      • Katarina Church, Stockholm - 1863/1976 Akerman & Lund destroyed by fire in 1990


      • Alexandra Palace, London - Willis organ destroyed by fire in 1873


      • Queen's Hall, London - Hill, Norman & Beard organ destroyed by bombing in 1941


      • Crystal Palace, 1920 J.W. Walkerdestroyed by fire in 1936

      • Albert Hall, Sheffield - 1871 Cavaillé-Coll destroyed by fire in 1937

      • Manchester Catherdral - organs (including famous "Father Smith" organ) destroyed by bombing in WWII

      • Lancashire, Bolton Town Hall - 1874 Gray & Davidson, destroyed by fire in 1981

      • First Baptist Church, Jamaica Plain (Boston) 1859 E. & G. G. Hook organ destroyed by fire in 2005

      • Melbourne Town Hall - 1872 Hill & Son organ destroyed by fire in 1925

      • Sophienkirche, Dresden - 1718/20 Silbermann organ destroyed by bombing in 1945

      • Frauenkirche, Dresden - 1736 Silbermann organ destroyed by bombing in 1945

      • St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna - 1886 Walcker destroyed by bombing in 1945

      • Lübecker Marienkirche (Große organ and 'Totentanz' organs, played by Buxtehude) - destroyed by bombing in 1942

      • Charlottenburg, Berlin - Arp Schnitger organ destroyed by bombing in 1943
