I want to find out what happened to the Ruffatti console at Coral Ridge.
The console was installed with the organ in 1974. In 1989 the console was replaced with a Rodgers console. I just wanna know why? Was it defective? Did it fall apart?
This has been bothering me for quite some time, and I thought I'd ask my first question on here, after being a "member" all these years.
Those Consoles were notorious for catching fire. Im not sure if that is what happend to this console. Grace Cathedral had one too... but its since been replaced as well.
The Organ was recently tonaly redone and had additions added to it. Tidwell&Hulsey redid it.
This is my understanding of what happened to the original console at Coral Ridge. A technician tried to repair a problem with the 12VDC zymbelstern that he thought was 110VAC. He tested with a hot lead, and it sent 110VAC back through the console and fried all the electronics.
The new Rodgers console had provisions for a solo division, a TV monitor, and copious storage space in the back for music and shoes.
The Rodgers dealer in south Florida received it in trade. It finally ended up at The Baptist Church of Beaufort, S.C. It was gutted and retrofitted with new multiplex solid state switching and was installed mid-1998. Diane Bish played the re-dedication in February of 1999.
