  • Bilhorn Brothers Style G

I just found a World Famous Folding Organ by Bilhorn Brothers, Style G. It looks to be in good shape. I have played a couple notes with it, but I am sure it needs cleaning and maybe some repairs. I have not found much on the organ, so does anyone have any suggestions on where to start with cleaning and assessing for repairs? It does have a brass plate stamped USQMC, so I am sure it has a military background. The case has some wear, but not too bad. The air chest may have a leak, not sure yet.
    Thanks, Mike

I would like to repair this organ, but does anyone know of any documents or of anyone who has worked on one? I would hate to do more damage by incorrectly trying to look into it.

I doubt if you will find anything like a repair manual - they simply do not exist. There are however, some publications on organ building and even general repairs. I will check out what I have and send you the files. They are however, only guidelines albeit with very useful content. But perhaps you could post some pictures that will help to guide you through the process and then some of us may learn something new also...:->

        Thanks.

This is a generic approach to reed organ repair, not for a specific type or brand.
There is also an illustrated version on disc that you can order.
