    WANTED: Conn 653 Photos

I've recently been put in the tough position of choosing between a Conn 651 and 653. I have found much more information regarding the 651, including a detailed picture gallery (http://www.christianwillis.com/conn6...51_Photos.html).

Is there a similar collection of photos detailing the 653?

    Thanks in advance!

Here's a link to the catalog photo: http://www.organservice.com/images/conn/conn653.JPG

And the stoplist and product info is here: http://www.organservice.com/conn/conn653.htm

I have personal experience with either organ, but info on this forum and elsewhere indicates that the 651 would probably have fewer service issues. I've heard the 653 is plagued with connector or soldering issues.

Thank you for the links! I'm already familiar with organservice.com's resources. Not exactly a detailed photo gallery, to be sure!

I don't mind doing some electrical work, including re-soldering, if it means I can take advantage of 10 years worth of improvements. The primary difference in maintenance favoring the 653 that I'm aware of is the key contacts being an improved material that doesn't need as much upkeep.

    Thanks for the info!

I always liked the consoles on the 652 & 653m but thought the 2nd row of stops looked better as rockers on the 652--the 653 2nd row looked like it was a "force fit".

Others here on the forum have more experience than I do with the Conn models, and I hope they will chime in. The 653, of course, is from the "Kimball-Conn" era.

    Porcconian,

See if this link provides what you need: https://www.organforum.com/gallery/t...um=128&page=13

    Michael

P.S. Meanwhile, you could search the Forum for specific feedback people have given regarding the 653. Many of the threads are locked, but you can still read them.

That's the best collection of photos I've been able to find on my own. I went ahead and edited the front of the console into a single photo:Conn_653_Theatre_Organ_2.jpg

In other news, I've decided on the 651, for the sake of future repairability. I intend to keep it around as long as possible!

    Porcconian,

I found that by going to the Gallery link at the top of the page. Inside the Gallery, there is a section for Organ Brochures. Lots of stuff here if you know where to look!
