  • Using an organ pipe for donations

    Hello all,

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct sub-forum but I didn't see any that would apply to my question.

My church is has begun a fund raising campaign for a new organ. We're doing the usual stuff. Mailers, announcements, etc.
One of the committee members suggested using container of some sort where people can drop in spare change, dollars, etc
like the church currently has for a 'poor box'.

We don't have any spare containers that we can use for this but I was thinking of perhaps using an organ pipe as a collection container.
It doesn't have to be secure as it would be emptied on a weekly basis but it would need to be mounted on something light enough to
    dump out the contents.

I was thinking of possibly using a single 4' open flue stop but the languid would need to be blocked off (preferrably from the inside) so any money deposited wouldn't come out.

Is this something that is achievable? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

    Thanks! Ed

i would think so - I've seen organ pipes like this in several churches already.
Recently I came across another solution that might require a bit more work: a small cabinet featuring a few organ pipes, keys and knobs.
