  • Viscount Cantorum VI

Interested in connecting with organists who own/play a Cantorum VI.

    Hi,

Again no personal experience here, but have been told that as a classical organ keyboard it is excellent.

Most likely you will not get much North American user feed-back here.

Fact of the matter is, Viscount as a brand has sold relatively few organs in North America since about 2002, when the then distributor Church Organ Systems ran into trouble, and eventually went under. Ever since then sales of Viscount have continued to decline. I believe the product to be better now, but I guess their reputation for building bottom feeder organs, that both sounded mediocre and had below average build quality sort of did them in.

I have not explored this instrument much beyond what is visible from the controls. The sound is incredible, and the quality workmanship is quite impressive. Having this instrument was probably overkill for me. I purchased it to replace a failing Cantorum II (?) for offsite gigs. Interestingly, I haven't had any offsite gigs since purchasing it. But, I'm ready!! Anyway, if you get a chance to play one, please do. I would be interested in your reactions.

        Hi Wisconsin organist,

I'm sure the Cantorum VI is miles better sounding than the Cantorum II, but would you say the basic tone is better than the Canticus you have as well?

I haven't had them both in the same room yet to do a side-by-side comparison. Sounds like a project for spring break! Perhaps I will also link it into the speaker system on the Canticus. I do know, however, that I enjoy the sound of the Cantorum VI and some of the newer features.
