Well, my squeak is back so I decided to tip the H100 tone generator up to see the "mythical" bearing threads. (like unicorns). Took a couple of hours to remove the tube preamp and a day of pondering to find the screws to remove the custom preset wiring rack on the low key end. (two screws are in the tab switch box underneath the screwed down wire harness. The two you can see on the back of the key enclosure take a 1/4" combination wrench to reach). I put a drop of food grade oil about ISO 32 weight on each bearing. I can see the threads running down to the mainshaft bearings, but I can't see anything running to the jackshaft bearings. All those little gear driven shafts off to the side. I put my reading glasses on and with a 7 W flourescent light right there, I still can't see anything. Are these "permanently lubricated?". They appear to be solid brass bearings, not sintered metal bronze bearings or anything modern. The squeaking was a lot slower than 1200 RPM, I think it was probably one of these jackshaft bearings.
I've got food grade penetrating oil (CRC 03086) but the squirt I put on the plastic bag evaporated in 4 days, so I don't think I will bother with that. Just letting the tone generator marianate a day on regular weight oil before reassembly and test.
