  • Hammond M3 questions...

I've just bought a 1958 M3 and added a trek OBL-2 line output box. It's the one with the switch to shut off the speaker in the hammond if desired. I plug a quarter inch out from this to my Leslie Combo Preamp pedal which is connected to my 145 with the 6 pin cable. It all sounds great! BUT... The Leslie has a volume (set at full), the trek OBL-2 has a volume or output level, the combo preamp has a volume or level output. Here's the question... what volumes (or levels) should be set to what? With the volume at full on the leslie it has to be pretty low on both the combo preamp and trek OBL-2.
    What do you all think?

Second question... I don't want to harm the Leslie... how loud can I play it? Can I blow it up? It breaks up nice with the organ... and does the same with a guitar, when hooked up through the combo preamp. Which leads to another question the same as the 1st. should I have a hot (loud) signal from the guitar and keep the level low on the Leslie Combo Preamp? Or the other way around?

    Any advice would be great...

    Thanks guys and girls.

Whatever sounds best to you. Really. Experiment.

You can blow out the speakers, especially the upper driver, mostly from overdriving it too hard.
