M101 is the sweetest sounding of the hammonds i have played, light years ahead of a L100 sonically....in my experience
There are thousands of hammond spinets in North America, chopping one to use is better then guitar players stealing the tubes and speakers and ending up in a landfill.....there, i said it:devil:
fluid69, take no offence, we are a diverse and passionate bunch
I'm all for playing the real deal, recased or otherwise.A great result of keeping everything stock is how long it has all lasted with no major issues.
My 1968 'chop' L100 was cast aside for an M in 1973 that was 'chopped' in 1974. Issue after issue after issue.Swore an oath to Hammond himself that....
I would never again 'chop' or recase an organ.Anyway, thats how the last five decades panned out for me.Basically all the money I spent on tech for my 'chops'
was saved when I stopped chopping and bought a van. When I drilled the lag bolt 1/4" holes to mount my organ trucks permanently to the slab sides of the A100,
I knew in the long run this would hold up.That was twenty years ago.

I'll be taking a M111/145 pair to the Feb15 gig.Have been rehearsing on a matching pair(M111/145)......there are 9 steps up the back stairs so help and a 115 pounds lighter
should be good to go.I've mixed in the 'verb amp to the 145 and it sounds every bit as good as the A100 I regularly use.In a sextet there isn't the same demand on 'bandwidth'
as the Hammond (or keys in general) places on a trio.I'm using more 2 2/3' and 4' and 1 3/5' than an A100.
This new band like others is about listening to one another and playing appropriate. The M111 still plays fine, paired with a 145 gets the job done. The R-O-K's will get some use
and handle the M111 like a toy.:-)

Do-o-n't! Keep the secrets of the trade!

Actually this is the best logistics I've seen in absence of a "falling board" if that is the right term to use.

      Cheers,

Ready for the road......just fired up the M111/145 rig.Awesome totally stock,no issues......apologies it seems my opinion is an 'outburst'.......LOL

This particular M111 was played regularly by Robbie King back in the day. Also was the house organ on BC Ferries "Queen Of The North' which sank off the coast a few years back.Good thing they no longer had a player......it's still 'dry'.
The Leslie used to be in The Yale,it's one of Ken Boychuks old 'R&B Allstars' boxes.

After confirming the status of the M111/145,I drove across town to play with another regular group I'm in.Rebuilt AO29,perc vol mod,1' poormans FB,the 147 is bone stock 1972.M3 has chorus resistor 12K under the hood,it's a 1956.

I play B2/A100 regularly.Still love these spinets though,am able to coax pleasing tone out of both.;-)
