  • hammond cv replacing run motor

Hey guys: Looking for some help in replacing the run motor from my 1948 CV. I got one from an M-3, but the problem is how do I get access to the one im my CV. I think I read somewhere that you have to lift the keyboard to get access, but not sure on how to do that so if there are instructions out there and you can point me to them it would be great. Also if there is a way to get at it from the back, those instructions would be helpful too. Im attaching a few pics I took of the back looking at the run motor. ThanksClick image for larger version

You sure you need to replace it? Run motors either work or they don't. Like you can't be "only a little pregnant." LOL.
If it it cranks over after the start motor does it's work, there may be something else at fault. No need to take it out if the issue lies elsewhere and all it needs is a little dab of oil.

Simple test: If the poles test out at approx. 90 ohms in parallel, the motor is fine. It's that easy.

Unscrew the little plastic panel with the electric connections, and lay it down. Disconnect the swell pedal shaft, and unbolt the "shelf" upon which the amp and rheostat are mounted. Now you can swing the shelf out of the way and have enough clearance to reach the motor.

Remove the four nuts that hold the motor assembly to its brackets and pull the entire package to the left; and then take the motor/scanner assembly out the back of the organ.
