  • M2 => M3 (percussion unit wiring)

    Hi,

    I am currently converting my M2 into an M3. The M3 percussion unit has a bundle of wires going to the AO29 Amp. Two of them are of the same color (yellow). From the M3 wiring diagram it is not evident which wire goes to which terminal on the amp. Can someone help me? Or could it be that it just does not matter because these yellow cables belong to the Percussion ON/OFF switch which simply connects both terminals on the amp if percussion is switched on? Thats my guess.....but i want to be sure.

    2nd question: Some wires are shielded. Is it necessary to shield these wires? I am asking because I have to extend some wires and I just don't have enough shielded wire available.

    Which yellow wire goes where is not important, as you say.

    Shielded wires are strongly recommended due to magnetic fields causing hum.

    How are you triggering percussion? The M-2 does not have a 9th drawbar busbar with contacts all the way up the keyboard. Are you using a different drawbar for triggering, or have you also replaced the top manual with an M-3 one?

      I have installed full foldback on the upper manual.

        Sounds like a recipe for a really nice little instrument! Congrats!

          Thanks! Conversion is almost finished. Adding foldback was the hardest part. But I also think it was a good idea. Can't wait to take it to a gig (-:
