  • Hammond H series Vibrato

About to get another H series and it all looks to be from the same era as my original H was except for one thing the square vibrato scanners were replaced for roll type ones as some were on these models. My question is should I expect a different characteristic to the vibrato vs the original H scanners I fell in love with?

Back when I was selling these, around 1970, the dealer I worked for was closing out all new H100 (the H300 was coming). They sent a brand new high serial number H-112 to the store for display, and I bought it for my self on the spot. It had the original style scanner, and it sounded fine. After the organ was delivered, our best serviceman at the time strongly recommended changing to the new dry scanner. I found no difference in the sound or performance of the vibrato, but these units, when added as a kit, have their own motor, and the rotors on some units squeaked occasionally.
