Leslie hookup help!

Hello organists!
I bought a Hammond D-152 that is not leslie ready (or at least does not seem to be, there is a 5 pin and 6 pin female connectors on the back though...) and today I bought a Leslie 147. How can I connect the two together? Do I need to buy a Leslie connector kit on ebay? Any suggestions?

How adept are you at reading schematics?

A 147 is easy enough to hook up, and since you already have a 6-pin in the organ all you really need to add is a speed switch. No need for an expensive kit in this case!

Thanks for your answer! I was under the impression that the 6 pin layout was different on the organ than it is on the leslie.
I have no experience reading schematics!! I tried plugging a leslie 125 directly in the organ and someone from this forum told me it was dangerous!! So i am not too sure what i can and cannot do!

Leslie pinouts are either 6H (for Leslie 122) or 6W (for Leslie 147) and they are NOT the same. Post a photo and someone can give you a more definitive answer.

In fact there are even more options. A Leslie 251, for instance, would also be a good companion for a D-100 and presents a third wiring variant for that 6-pin.

At any rate, D152 - you don’t need a whole lot of new hardware, just a switch; and then it’s just a matter of properly rewiring what you already have. I suggest you hire someone to do that, given that you can’t read a schem.

can anyone confirm if i can just plug the leslie in the six pin connector we see on the pics, or do i have to rewire stuff?

There is no real way to tell from these Pics. If I were there I would open the outlet box to see how it was wired. Also, look for any sign of a kit that supports a 122.

Long ago I had to hook up these (D152/147) without a kit.
I took audio pins 1 and 6 from the D152 six pin socket out to my own homemade 147 box.
My homemade box has it's own AC cable so I left pins 3-4 AC from the D152 off the 'adaptor' cable.
Essential cheater cables are; a 5 pin plug to 1/4" cable socket and a 6 pin plug to 1/4" cable socket!
I never make 'amphenol socket end' cheaters,and I'm here to tell you.....that could be lethal.

Look closely at the 147 schematic you'll see that simply closing and opening pins 2-5 connections gives you tremelo/chorale.
This lifts one leg of the AC.
That's how I figured out how to assemble my own hookup,circa 1998,no internet.....and the box is still in use.

Like enor says,a switch and a few amphenol plugs and you're done.If you want speaker switching functions you can build that too.
Personally,having that big 'ol built in tone cab along with a 147 was, and is IMO, one beautiful experience!

Thanks again for your help, i am not very electronics savy. So if i understand correctly, what I have to make sure is that the wiring on the female 6 pin connector on my D152 matches the wiring on the male 147 connector? Meaning that if the AC on the male connector is on pins 1 and 3, I have to make sure the power is on the sockets 1 and 3 also on the female connector? Does thatmake sense?

Or get a tech to help you locally.
Read it for yourself like many of us did.
Then ask questions.

If you can post a picture of the inside of the breakout box, it would be very helpful. If you aren't comfortable doing this, then speak to a tech, who could probably give you the answer in a second.

thanks Greenswater! I did open the box and checked it out. All pins were wired except for the the pin # 5 (B+) it seemed set up 6H. I will post a picture.
