  • Hammond T202 Scanner oil wicks

    Hi folks, 1st post!! 😁😁

I'm overhauling the scanner on my Hammond T202. Unfortunately the oil wicks need replacing. 3 things:

    1) Does anybody have a diagram/photos of where they go? And some advice on how to affix them.

    2) The little foamy bits - anyone know what these are called/made of/how to replace; and again, how do you best affix an oil thread to them?

    3) The thread is supposed, obviously, to come from the oil trough which sits on top of the generator. On the T202 this trough runs right across the generator, and there's only a tiny hole at the end (pictured) where the thread is supposed to come out (and then go on into the scanner). Anyone know how on earth to get the thread inside the oil trough? Do I have to take the whole damn generator apart to get the thread in there?

    Thanks everyone,
    Pete

I've never worked on anything with a scanner at that end of the organ, but, long story short: there should be two, one on each side of that bearing. They need to get somewhere where there is oil, I would try and get them under the cover on the generator trough. six or eight inches of thread under there, balled up 2-3 inches down should work fine.

Hi Wes, cheers, I can see the two foam patches (actually they look like they might be felt) either side of the bearing. However, I can't see how that large cog (pictured) is lubricated? Do you have to tie a thread round it somewhere, or is there a hidden felt patch under that mechanism (would rather not take it apart as I don't have a Bristol wrench!)?

Also, the trouble is that the opening to the trough is so small - I mean I could maybe stuff the wick in there, but surely there's a way to service the trough itself?

The wicks don't go thru the hole in the trough, they go over the edge of the trough, and then in under the brass "leaf".
