Hey tpappano, unfortunately it didn't get rid of it! It's still the same. What now?

You stripped the insulation off the black wire, correct?

Yes I did, I noticed I cut the black wire before the power resistor at first but now I fixed that. Upon trying it again it made it better a little but there's still a loud hum especially when the potentiometer is all the way up. When it's almost all the way down it's not too loud but still there, and when I turn up the amp it gets louder of course.

At this point you might want to back up a couple steps, reconnect a speaker directly to the organ and make sure it sounds clean and hum free through the speaker. There could be a problem "upstream" somewhere.

Did it hum before you repackaged it? I'm asking, because there is a VERY big and beefy power transformer located about an inch away from several small audio transformers. That's usually a pretty sure way to cause hum...

I dont know too much about theese kinds of electronics, but if you get a very long "jumper" and attatch it too the black (ground) wire and the attatch this to (the acctual) ground or a big metal "something" near the organ, it might help on the hum.
Atleast it worked when i helped a friend of mine whit hum on an electric bass.
This worked on the bass as it (i dont know the english words for it) made for more even "ground-potential".
Im just thinking this might work for your organ as well.

Anyway, i want to congratulate you on your wonderfull looking organ.

I like the repackaging, but have to agree that there's a good chance the field from the power transformer is the culprit. Remember how far it was away from the circuitry in the original cabinet? If you can lift the supply out while turned on (no fingers underneath!), see if the hum changes as you do so. Even turning it slightly could make a difference. It that's the case, you'll have to mount the supply another way/place. Please let us know what you find.

If you find that moving it reduces the hum, but don't want to move it from the perfect spot you have it in, you might try adding a ‘flux band' to the power transformer. (Google it.) You'd remove the transformer, take off the shells, and wrap a band of thin copper sheet around the windings and core, solder the seam, and replace. Then solder a wire from the band to the chassis. This will capture much of the external magnetic flux.
