  • Using Hammond m3/leslie 147 with effect pedals

    Hi all,

Before I had my Leslie 147, a tech had added a line out so I could use effect pedals through the M3 speaker (a diy pedal he made with a dummy load if I remember). When I got a Leslie and installed the connector, I removed that line out since I didn’t know if it was still usable in conjonction with the Leslie connector (I seem to remember being told to take it out). I’m no good with electronics, don’t really understand the Ohms, resistances, signals, etc. involved in a circuit, but I would love to be able to use effects again with my M3, hopefully through the leslie.

Anyone could give me directions on how to achieve this? Maybe point me to older posts or a diy somewhere?

    thanks :-)

There are 2 things to consider when adding an effects loop. If you add a line out to the M3 sourced at the M3 speaker / dummy load to drive an effects box, the return signal isn't high enough to drive the Leslie. You would have to add another pre-amp device to drive it. In this case the device would be active on both manuals.
The best way to do this is to interrupt the upper or lower manual signal at the matching transformer and route it to a send and return. Trek II sells the ELB-1A effects loop interface but unfortunately it is out of stock.
