I was wondering if anyone had any tips for moving Hammond organs by yourself. Specifically I need to get it into the back of an old van. There's plenty of room for it inside i just need to get it there. A cheaper option would be preferable. I mainly just need an option other than an electric lift. They're expensive and I just can't afford that right now. So if you have any ideas or stories of how you've moved your Hammonds, please let me know...

Moving my Hammond M3

Rented Roll R Kari with ramp would be the slickest. That can be a one-man job. M3 is what, about 250 pounds? You could get by with 2 small flat, cheap, carpeted wooden dollies, ratchet straps and a ramp if you are careful. Packing blankets. Don't forget to lock down the TWG.
When I moved my C3 to a gig, I was too cheap to rent or buy anything. Two of us manhandled it, breaking a porch step in the process. Couldn't feel our legs after that. Exhilarating.
An idea comes to mind. A few years ago,I bought a used jointer/planer privately out of town that weighed about 500 pounds and needed to get it all the way up into our old Ram 2500 long box diesel pickup. Long way up there. Way higher than your van. My wife, the skinny guy that was selling me the jointer, and me. I asked if he had any tires around. He did. We put the jointer behind the truck bed. We tipped the jointer sideways, slipping in a tire halfway under it, then rocked it the other way, slipping another tire under the front of the jointer. up onto that tire, then the other way, adding tires as we went. When we got to the height of the bed, we wrangled it over onto the tailgate and in. I still am amazed that we didn't bust the tailgate cables or kill ourselves, but it worked.
When we got home, we pulled it off with either a skidsteer or our tractor with a big bucket. Older units, but we are out in the country, where we can do such unconventional things. Big load of groceries from Costco? Too lazy to take items piece by piece through the garage, mud room, pantry, and kitchen. The utility tractor has turf tires, so we can load the bucket up and go around to the back door to the breakfast nook. One shot.
