I notice that there are so called "style" discs available on a few websites. From what I can tell these discs are independently producedand are organized according to song style rather than digital voice.Do these independent producers have access to master registration discsproduced by Panasonic?Or are they producing new digital samples themsleves?

About 30 "style discs" actually came with my organ. They are not in alignment with my musical sensibility and I hesitate to purchase more of the same to extract a few sounds from the discs. I'd prefer to make myown registrations which I've already started to do.

I'm not aware of Master registration disks, though Technote in the UK may have done some. Look here:

    http://www.kn7000.com/product_list.asp?CatID=38&SuppProd=GA3&Pag e=ALL

It does say that these are for GA3, but I had two GA1 owning students who used them with no problems.

You need, as I said in another thread, the theatre style disk again from Technote. In addition to the the styles, it has plenty of organ sounds. I think it's these two, but why not send Strawberry Music - distributors of the Technote disks - an email and ask them?

    http://www.kn7000.com/product_detail.asp?ProdID=8801&SuppProd=GA3&am p;CatID=38

Explore the discs you already have a bit further, you may well find that even if the styles aren't your thing, there may well be sounds on them that you can 'steal' and then copy into your own registrations.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

      Thanks Andy,

I was ableTodownload "The Organ Player" volume 1. I'm looking forward to hearingthe Theatre samples. I will contact Strawberry over the weekend in regards to a disc ofmore voices.

I do not have an organ in my apartment in NYC.I play the GA1 only on weekends. So I'malready searching for another organ!

        Re: Technics GA1 sound discs

One of the beauties of the Technics line starting with the EA series (maybe earlier), is that the registration disks can be used on a wide range of their organs.

If you get a disk for the GA3 that has voices in it not included with the GA1, you get that voice. Getting to the voice depends on where they store it when it loads. If it loads in User Sound Memory locations or in the 1st 8 panel memory locations, then it is there and accessible. If it is loaded into the upper 8 panel memory locations, then you can't get to it because there are no buttons.

This holds true for the EAx, GAx, FAx and F100 models for sure.

As well as voicings, you can also get new rhythms from the registration disks.

And you can modify those voicings and rhythms and save a new customized registration disk.

Quite versatile and very powerful, imo.

There is a woman that has songs both book and disk for the Technics. She loads them into the memories and you use the sequencer to play them back. If you want to play along, you can kill the melody line and play along and all the voices she uses are still there and useable because those voicings are in the memory, even some of the upper panel memory you can't actually select on some models, and the sequencer can get to them even if you can't directly.

From this it appears that all the EA, GA and F series organs have 16 panel memories even when they only have 8 panel memory buttons. Makes me think you could 'rig' one of the lesser models to have 16 panel memories if you had the technical talent.
