  • Lowrey Satellite (what should I do?)

Hi, this is my first post in this great forum!

    Recently I bought this organ:

I guess it's a Satellite IC or ICA-1 (I don't know, they look the same to me):

I'm planning to use the keys on a midi controller as a lower manual for my clonewheel. Or maybe shold I restore (or at least fix) this organ? I have the two missing keys in the upper (F and G), I just removed them before I took the photos. On the wood side of the F key some numbers can be seen "1 3 1970", which I guess it means January 3rd, 1970.

Any advice or info? Schematics maybe?

    Thank you!

Remove the keys, build the controller, and then dump the rest. This was an abomination of an instrument, not worthy of the Lowrey name. There is nothing there worth restoring, apart from maybe the old drum box, and you'd have to have it working first.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

That was Lowrey's first Integrated Circuit organ, really the very bottom of the line. That rhythm unit was also the very bottom of that line, as well. You may be able to salvage enough keyboard parts to serve as a controller.

If you are interested in adding an original, Lowrey factory-issued technical manual to your collection, send me a Private Message (aka PM).

You need a minimum of 49 keys for a MIDI board. 61 is better.

You can buy a MIDI key board on Ebay on the cheap.

TO THE DUMP (TIP) as fast as you can get there.

Yep, a couple MIDI keyboards would cost less than you'd have to sink in that stinker you got.

Tell me you didn't pay more than about $10 for that thing! Better yet, tell us how much they paid you to haul it off!! :)

Ok, thanks, I'm gonna take what I need and dump the rest. I paid it about $15, what is very cheap considering that I'm in Argentina, the "organ-less land", where you must pay $400 for a late seventies Electone A-55 or $800 for a Hammond Piper.
