Has anyone got any real world experiences with installing and using this yet? I am waiting to push the button on this, but as this is the first chargeable update, I want to make sure it is all worth it.

Also, as it is downloadable, what happens if you try and install prior to buying? - does it work on a trial basis or just fail.

From the many demos by Allens and others, (Allens are also starting a series on V3.00 on their Patreon channel next week) most people seem to have gone for the full package (All 3 activations).
Also, like all Wersi activations you will find a Trial button next to the activation button as you can get a trial code to try the activations out before purchase. (If you don't like them then they become inactive after a time)
There are various demos on the Allens You Tube Channel, also type Stefaan Vanfleteren into You Tube for further playing demos.

Thanks Bill. It is my intention to buy the full package, however, what is not clear to me from what I have read is what happens if I just download and install the V3 files without first purchasing “any” package activations, as it does imply that package 1 includes OAX 3.0 and Wersi Vision.

It is, but you can download and install it without problems, you just won't get the full benefits until you activate the add On's

OAX was officially released in 2014, so only just over 10yrs, which is a rather short time to open a wallet. 😄

Seems to be a nice upgrade especially the addons. There have been a few youtube videos both by Allens and by users.
Quite a lot of money though.
Guess most value for money is the OAX1 set or the 700 (not sure of difference stepping to 800). If punting so much at least I would like to get the 25 pedals as speaks against an OAX1 setup (with probably a couple of other drawbacks too).

Yes, but you don't have to have all the options if you don't want to.

Wersi used to have a 25-note full pedalboard available for the Abacus (It also had 5 toe pistons and a swell pedal), and as far as I am aware OAX1 supports it, but I haven't seen one new for a number of years. (You could always keep an on eBay though)
