This showed up today on the Cincinnati Craigslist:

    http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/msg/2441967337.html

it's not me, but I thought I'd pass it along to some of you guys who are building custom cabs. Looks like he wants to house the low rotor only.

Build a Vibratone aka LESLIE 16) - shades of Stevie Ray and Jimmy H.
Great for guitars.... My 130 Leslie Carcass will likely become one.
The vertical axis does change the sound a LOT.

I've often thought of doing this myself too. Not as easy as it might look though - as I understand it Fender used dovetail joints on all their cabinets. ...though I guess you could mock it up with miter joints or some such and only affect the sturdiness, probably not the sound.

modern materials are much better to use as they are not so prone to resonant frequencies, Fender had to use the plywood they did, high density fiberboard would suffice, In my case the 130 just needs a jack and motor control, I have the relay and switch (12 auto relay and wall wart, couple of caps and game on) and maybe some truck bed liner for a durable finish?
