Hello all!
I'm brand new to the forum, and a new owner of two leslie speakers! I recently picked up a 11 pin 615 with a Hammond organ, and a 9 pin 710 with a Lowrey for free from someone at my parents church, all of which look almost brand new on the outside! My question is about the 615: while testing it out, the compression driver was silent, even though the horn was spinning, and then the 5amp 250v slo blow fuse popped after about 2 minutes of play at about half volume. When opening the mid panel I noticed that there was a resister between the speaker wire and the compression driver... it was disconnected, likely from being hauled up stairs and bouncing around in the trailer... but it doesn't seem like it should be there to begin with. It was loosely twisted around the speaker terminal, and came apart where it had previously been attached with just electrical tape to the wire clip. Is this something I should just remove, or did all 615s have this? I've never seen this on other models... AND, the back panel was installed backwards (labels facing inside the cabinet) , suggesting that maybe someone unqualified had been tampering with the cabinet. I'm curious, what might this resistor's purpose be, and would either leaving or removing it possibly damage the system?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
