First I am new here.:-)
I want to introduce myself as a novice organ repair guy, but electronics has been a hobby for many years, and I am proud to be part of your prestigious forum.:o
Please reiterate the reason I am here as per the title. I have purchased this organ from a private party who's owner recently passed on, and as I have my own relation who is my only hero and a grand fixit man himself who is in hospice, this is more like a vendetta of life and death with me...(I maybe appear sentimental in that last line). This organ turns on and lights up. The keys don't work. There is no sound. At the estate sale, it was making quite the moaning whine... It is very quiet except the airy hiss associated with a volume pedal being pressed, and yes it does increase and decrease with volume pedal movement. There is an increase of hiss with the addition(turning on and off) of the buttons associated with the synthesizer portion of the controls, which of course are behind a lexan panel and are tactile contact sensitive. Inside, it is a nice arrangement of system cards, in a vertical buss that sits middex next to the 3 amp board on its' left. I don't hear the leslie turning, but all the lights on the console function when you turn them on and off except 2(can't remember which ones right now) I put some nice dark briwax on the wood so's to add a bit of protection from my belt buckles and tool droppage. It is really nice to be able to buy help when you need it, of which I purchased a $23.00 tech from the just ask department of the organ repair section in the internet group of the search and lose base on the web of sorrows to assist me in the remoulage and carion in the shop. He says to start with the power supply voltages (good idea). I have purchased a service manual for this model(200 series) and also a manual for the G-musicomputer in general.. so if you need some pages, I can provide copies of them for 10cents each.
With a place to start(just answer) and a great forum like this ("THE ORGAN FORUM") I should be able to get this fancy groaner up and moaning faster than prune jucies past a pine cone...Agree?
(hope so cause I really don't know what I am doing! ho ho);-)
I hope that any gulbransen repair guys in here will follow my progress-posts and intervene if I need it or do something completely taboolean.
ABOUT THIS DEVICE-
It's a console that was made by Gulbransen to be the ultimate home entertainment performance system, rather than a music production system, and is without the cassette player recorder, that normally accompanies the musicomputers. It is a standard organ with dual keyboards, with electronic piston buttons, that plays electronic drum accompaniment and offers a learning book as the owners manual. It appears to be a very expensive "lets learn to play organ" tool for professional organist schooling.
First- I have power... the lights light and the system appears to boot, so I don't think its a power issue, but like the $23.00 guy says- "start by checking the input voltages, there are a bunch of them..."
PWR SUPPLY ASSM 413058 DOMESTIC, 413060 EXPORT-
35v at the r/r diodes(1-4 4 means bridge) 2 C1 and 2-filters
12v at the r/r diodes(5-8 4 means bridge 2 IC1 and 2-filters
5v full wave recitifier Diodes 9 and 10, 1 IC3-filter and 2 transistors Q1 and 2 for the load
I wonder??? should I test the PS while its in the device or remove it(my heart says in, but my past experience says out)
Well here I go again. My names Ted Wes, and I am very very old, almost 60... And I like to use things like pikaroons and hammers on musical instruments for guarenteed fixes, but I am learning how to use other tools like torches and awls. (that should do it...)
