Yes David, thanks for the reply but I already looked there.

        The TMS3617 is a 28 pin chip with a top octave generator and 12 keying circuits built in, the Organ Service components don't have the keying circuits.

          I did a quick Goggle search on "TMS3517" and http://www.batescomponents.com/catal...s/TMS3617.htmlwas one of the many results. You might try the same search. (Of course, probably already have.) At least Bates identifies their chip as a 28-pin DIP (made by TI, the company I am retired from).

            Unfortunately Bates Components have a $250 minimum order!

            In the meantime I have found a source here in the UK, www.wdgreenhill.com

            Interesting to hear you worked for TI, what did you do? - I have been in the electronics design business since 1968 and have used many TI products, we used some early TTL, 53 and 63 series on a missile system and implemented a complete digital computer with nothing more integrated than a J-K Flip Flop! - Things have certainly changed since then!

              I have sent you an e-mail. I didn't really think the rest of the board would want to be bored with my answers. TI is a major supplier of DSP (Digital Signal Processor) chips and I think those would be ideal for use in electronic instruments, such as those like Copeman-Hart that use computers to simulate the air movements in pipes. (But what do I know?)

                try to this site http://www.vintagechip.altervista.org

                In this site is not necessary a minimum order.

                  Hi,

                  Would any of you fine gentlemen in this thread happen to have a PDF or other electronic form datasheet for the TMS/TMX3617, or perhaps know where I could find it? I've just spent an hour with google and can't quite seem to converge on a source. I tried all the usual suspects with no luck. Its not for a repair but for personal interest in the actual device, so there's no hurry.

                  thanks,

                        Don't actually need it but wouldn't mind a copy for personal study. Was it hard to find or did you have to register at one of those wonky sites to get a copy? A web search on the chip number turned up a lot of wrong leads; many seemed to substitute TMS3637 into the search parameter, which is an entirely different device.

                        thanks

                            Hello, Ian;

                            I would go directly to Johannus for that chip. As a former JHO dealer, I found them very helpful.
