  • Project: Conversion of a Galanti Praeludium to Hauptwerk, using 'System ONE' Modules

Here Bob Howlett, owner of Hauptwerk Hardware, undertakes the conversion of a non-working Galanti Praeludium organ from the late 1980's to Hauptwerk using his new System ONE componentry.

This is particularly interesting to me because, a few years back, I was considering such a conversion for a non-working Ahlborn-Galanti SL-250B, which is quite similar in many respects to the Praeludium, albeit from 2000 and with different firmware. (As it happens, after a ton of work, I managed to get the SL-250B working again.)

Here is Part 1 of the Praeludium project:

The matrix wiring makes the Praeludium an excellent candidate for conversion. Although I didn't do the stop rail, that too would have been straightforward when I did a conversion for a friend. I have the code lying around somewhere should anyone be interested.
