  • Hammond CV with Leslie 21h - Leslie kick switch speed issue connected to vol. control

I recently corrected a distortion issue that resulted in me recapping amp, replacing driver, and woofer.

I do have the leslie control hooked to the volume pedal by way of a kick switch. I've noticed that when I kick the switch to fast it will run until I lower the volume. When it gets to a certain low level, the fast motor stops. The strange part is when I raise the volume, the fast motor reengages. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I'm thinking cord from kick switch to organ or the amp, 6pin leslie cord.

The reason I say leslie cord is because when I start the organ, the leslie always start fast as it warms up and then cuts off if the switch is set to off. It stays on if the switch is set to on.

Any feed back is greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

    Johnny

That is a very unusual problem. I'd first check the wiring on your switch is connected to the right wires in the switching box, which is what kind/model? Then check the DC voltage from the preamp to the switching box. Then check the DC blocking caps in the Leslie amp. Also try another switch to see if the one you're using is the problem.
H type Leslies always start on fast and after about 20 seconds (or whenever the tubes warm up) settle down to whatever the switch is set on. That is standard procedure. If it switches to the off position (switch in off) then it shows the relay is working.
