  • How much should I sell a Leslie 720/540 combo for?

I'm selling a Leslie speaker 720 with 540 combo. How much would be appropriate for this thing? I live in Los Angeles, and saw a posting for just the 720 for $1295, so figured selling both for $1500 would be fair? Am I in the ballpark?
    Thanks so much!

Brilliant! Ebay completed sales, never thought of that. I actually have no way to test if it works, so perhaps I should go lower? I don't want to rip anyone off :embarrassed:
      Thanks jDoc!

        So $1500 way too much?

So I just looked at old postings on ebay and saw the Leslie 710 sold for anywhere between $100-250. How comparable are the 710 and 720 then?

Both two channel. 710 is 9-pin, 720 is 11-pin. 710 has Rotosonic lower drum, 720 has 10" speaker facing into a conventional foam lower rotor. Both need a crossover kit installed for pseudo single channel operation.

710s have been cheap for a long time and a popular choice amongst Hammond players wanting a cheap leslie. The 720 seemingly less popular. When paired with the 540, it's a combo aimed at home organs with 3 or 4 channels of amplification. Sometimes sought after, often not. Probably not right to compare prices too closely

Over here, I don;t think you'd get the equivalent of your original asking price.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I bought a 720 for 50UK but it IS delivering at least 500UK "customer satisfaction"!

Wow...well based on what you guys are saying $1,500 is a way over charging?
But out in San Diego (not too far away from Los Angeles) they are charging about $1300 for just the 720.

There are tips and trick of the trade of course but you where suggested to check ebay completed sales search...I assure you that speaker above will never sell this high alone if you see what I mean...Some current models new leslie cost this high.

Another experiment - visit the first pawn shop and ask money for what you have, that you'd be close to a real price.

                Cheers,
                Boyan

That's from a dealer. They have families to feed, rent and staff to pay and so have to charge more than it's really worth. And they'll usually service the leslie and have to offer some form of warranty.

There is little demand over here in the UK, and values low but they are rare and finding them is very hard. I've just offered £100 for one and been told where to go think I upset them !!
They are great speakers though and as Andy has already said they have a proper lower rotor, would love to know why leslie did not use a rotosonic like the 710 model which predates the 720 by a few years.
